United In Pink - Monsters

Today I will bring up a subject that Karin on Vacker & Underbar wrote about yesterday and something that an organisation called Ung Cancer currently draws attention to here in Sweden under the name #Cancerbaksmälla that could be translated to Cancer Hangover.

What on earth does that mean you might wonder? I would like to say that you get hangover from other very serious diseases too not only of cancer before explaining, but the term refers to how someone feels after defeating the disease, because it's a big percentage that survives the hell to be seriously ill. What you don't think about is the other hell that many people experience afterwards. Anxiety, fear and loneliness. You have done it, you are well. Why are not you as happy as you should be? There is an answer to that. The fear of suffering again, fatigue in the body after treatment and perhaps of the medications that you have to keep eating for a while, maybe your entire life. Some may have had radiation damage that you have to live with as a constant reminder and just as in depressions after childbirth or any depression for that matter, it's so hard to recognize for yourself and others that you feel as you feel when everyone tells you how happy you should be and how happy they are that you are a survivor that you one over the disease. Or when ignorant tells you how great it is that everything now is back to normal and as usual again because you've had your surgery and ar well again. It doesn't work that way! One thing I think is really bad about Swedish healthcare, which is amazing in so many other ways, is how it throws out patients in reality after the treatments have ended and you have a paper that tells you that you feel good. During the illness, many people are offered to speak with a curator or similar, but afterwards, when you may actually need it even more, there is no help if you do not search for it yourself. So if you have #cancerhangover, I hope you dare to ask for help. Tell your family how you feel,  there is help! You're not weird, you're not rude and above all you're not alone.

Cancer is a monster and that is what my nails represent today with the help of OPI Apartment For Two, Hit The Bottle As Black As Night and patterns from a Born Pretty Store plate that was sent for me to review and can be found here: http://www.bornprettystore.com/born-pretty-round-stamping-plate-cartoon-cute-monster-ghosts-manicure-nail-image-plate-p-40211.html
