Carrots!

Vad gör man inte för sina barn?

När grabbarna var små så sydde jag ett par köksgardiner av ett grönt tyg med morötter på. Av någon anledning så har dom där gardinerna blivit favoriter och anses (dock inte av mig) funka både som vår, sommar, höst, vinter och julgardiner av grabbarna.

Anledningen till att jag tar upp detta ämne som kan tyckas vara väldigt långt från lack relaterat är att just idag så har dessa älskade gardiner entrat min lackvärld. Förresten så kom det en protest när jag började prata om att tapetsera om i köket. Resten av familjen gick med på detta om tapeterna fortfarande var i färger så morotsgardinerna passar. Nä, just det lackrelaterat var det ju.

Idag för 15 år sedan föddes vår yngste son och precis som sin bror fick han välja vilken manikyr jag skulle ha denna speciella dag. Brodern valde kaktus med pilar naglar, men lillgrabben han valde givetvis morotsgardinsnaglar!

Funderade lite på vad jag skulle använda som bas, men bestämde mig för China Glaze Def Defying, recension av detta kommer vid ett annat tillfälle, och sen måla med akrylfärg för att fixa små morötter. Färgerna är kanske inte riktigt gardintrogna, men det struntar jag i. Det där med akryl är kul, men dom blev allt lite skakiga. Det som inte var kul var att jag hade problem att få upp burken med grön färg, vilket resulterade i grön färg på hela mig. Och lite hack här och där i lacket.

Över det här har jag ett lager av China Glaze Fast Forward. Jag tycker själv att dom är finare på lite håll än när man tittar för nära.

I'll do anything for my kids!

When the boys were small, I sewed a pair of kitchen curtains of a green fabric with carrots on. For some reason they have become favorites and are considered (but not by me)to work both as spring, summer, autumn, winter and Christmas curtains for the boys.

The reason I bring this topic up may seem very far from a polish related subject is that right now, these beloved curtains has entered my polish world. By the way, there came a protest when I started talking about redecorating the walls in the kitchen. The rest of the family agreed to this only if the wallpaper was still in colors so that the carrot curtains would fit. Oh, back to polish related.

Today, 15 years ago our youngest son was born and, like his brother, he got to choose the manicure I would have on this special day. His brother chose cactus with arrows nails, but my youngest, he naturally chose carrot curtain nails!

I thought about what polish I should use as a base, but decided that China Glaze Def Defying would work,you'll get a review of that another day, and then paint with acrylic paint to fix small carrots. The colors are perhaps not quite curtain faithful, but I don't care. The thing with acrylic is fun, but the carrots became a bit shaky. Not so fun was the fact that I had trouble getting up the can of green paint, which resulted in green on the whole me. And little nicks here and there in the polish.

Over this, I have a layer of China Glaze Fast Forward. I think these look better from a bit distance.

Blå Måndag / Blue Monday - L.A Girl Disco Brites Deejay

Ännu en måndag är här och jag väljer att visa ett mycket fint blått lack från L.A Girls Disco Brites serie. Det här lacket visade jag redan i maj förra året, men av en mycket speciell anledning så väljer jag att visa det igen idag.

Jag vill också passa på att tacka Mrs Data för att hon så föredömligt hålt i våra blåa måndagar tills nu och hälsa vår nya värdinna Linda på Lindas Nailorama välkommen.

På flaskan står nämligen Black Light Nail Polish. Alltså utlovas det att det här ska lysa i UV-ljus och vad passar bättre än att då bära lacket när man ska på Discobowling med jobbet? Dags för Helena testar alltså.

Men först vill jag lovorda lackets mycket bra egenskaper när det kommer till formula. Mycket smidigt att applicera och torkar i en helt normal takt också. Täcker på tre lager och är så himla glansigt och fint. Färgen är inte unik på något sätt, Royal Blå eller Kornblå, men en av de blåa nyanser som jag tycker är vackrast. Jag har ett lager China Glaze Fast Forward över. Det behövs absolut inte för glansen, men för hållbarhetens skull.

Nå, hur gick det då med testet? Först vart jag väldigt besviken och tyckte att det här funkade ju inte alls, tills jag insåg att det var bara rätt sorts ljus över själva banorna. Vad gör man då, jo man sträcker fram handen över själva bowlingbanan och vips så blev det mycket roligare igen! Visst funkar det, men jag skulle tro att effekten kanske mattas lite av överlacket. Självklart får ni en bild på detta också, även om den kanske inte är av toppkvalité. Tagen med mobilkameran. Men först lite "vanliga" bilder på Deejay. Gillar förresten namnet :)

Another Monday is here and I choose to show you a very nice blue polish from LA Girls Disco Brites series. I have showed you this before in May last year but for a very specific reason I choose to show it again today.

The bottle states Blacklight Nail Polish. So that means that it will glow in Black Light, But does it work? Well what could be a better occasion to try this out than our teamparty at work were we went discobowling, Time to let the polish prove if it's up to what it says on the bottle or not.

But first I want to tell you some about the polish. Because it's a really good one when it comes to formula and drying time. Very easy to apply and dries in a completely normal pace too. It covers in three layers and it's very shiny in it's surface. The color is not unique in any way, Royal Blue or Cornflower blue, but one of the shades of blue that I think is the most beautiful. I have a layer of China Glaze Fast Forward over. You certainly don't need it to get it glossy, but for protection.

Well, what happened to the test? First, I was very disappointed and didn't think it was working at all, until I realized that it was just the right kind of light over the bowling lane. What do you do, yes you stretch out your hand over the bowling lane and suddenly it became much more fun again! Sure it works, but I would think that the effect might slacken a bit of the top coat. And of course I have a picture to prove it, but not the best one since it's taken with my cellphone. But first a little "ordinary" pictures of Deejay. I like the name by the way :)

Nailart Sunday - Marble accent nail

Söndag igen.. Skulle vara lite mer helger i veckorna tycker jag!

Denna söndagen har vi fritt val i Lelacks Nailart Sunday. Själv sitter jag fortfarande med Orly Rococo A Go Go på fingrarna, även om det snart åker bort i förmån för något annat vackert. Så istället passar jag på att visa en manikyr som jag hade för någon vecka sedan som jag var väldigt nöjd med.

På Alla Hjärtans Dag visade jag er en watermarble jag gjorde. Den där gav blodad tand och jag gjorde en variant med samma färger, men med bara en accent nagel av marbling. Resten av naglarna är målade med China Glaze Heart Of The Matter. Ett lack med fantastiskt bra egenskaper måste jag säga.

Marblen är gjord med hjälp av China Glaze Heart Of The Matter, Sweet Hook och Milani White On The Spot.

Sunday again .. I would like to have som more weekends during the week!

This Sunday Lelack has given us free hands to show whatever we feel like on her Nailart Sunday. I still have Orly Rococo A Go Go on my nails, although it will soon give place for a new beauty. So instead I take the opportunity to show you a manicure that I did a couple of weeks ago that I was very pleased with.

On Valentine's Day, I showed you a water marble I did. I kind of got an appetite for doing more marbles and I made a variation of the same colors, but with just an accent nail of marbling. The rest of the nails are painted with China Glaze Heart Of The Matter. A polish with fantastic features, I must say.

Ert val / Readers Choice - Orly Rococo A Go Go

Hur visste ni att det här var det andra lacket ur min första Transdesign beställning som jag blev sugen på att visa er igen? Tack snälla för att ni röstade fram det här som veckans läsarnas val!

Det här är ytterligare ett lack som jag såg hos Nailtastic som jag med en gång visste att jag ville ha så när jag väl vågade mig på min första beställning från USA hade det här en självklar plats.

För en gång skull så är det även lacket som jag har på mig just nu som jag visar er här på bloggen. Alldeles nymålat och fräsch faktiskt.

Namnet Rococo A Go Go är ju smidigt och bra och får mig att tänka på en mycket konstig serie som artisten Wednesday 13 gav ut som ett barnprogram i USA det hette Weirdo A Go Go. Har ni inte sett den, så behöver ni absolut inte vara ledsna, mycket skum sak det där..

I alla fall så är det här ett mycket trevligt lack att måla med. Flyter ut lätt på naglarna och torkar fort och bra också. Två lager är det enda som behövs för täckning. Färgen är en helt underbar vinröd/lila fylld med massa guldflakes som ger lacket ett otroligt liv. Lätt ett av mina favoritlack i min samling och ett som jag starkt kan rekommendera om man inte testat något Orly ännu, men funderar på det.

Ni vet ju hur det här går till nu, under bilderna finns veckans omröstning med lack som min yngste son fick välja ut direkt ur otestat lådan.

This is another polish that I saw at Nailtastic I immediately knew that I wanted, so once I dared to order my first package from the U.S. this had a given place in it.

For once, it's also a polish that I'm wearing right now that I show you here on the blog. Just painted on the nails!

The name Rococo A Go Go makes me think of a very strange series that artist Wednesday 13 published as a children's program in the U.S. it was called Weirdo A Go Go. If you havn't seen it, you actually don't need to either. It's really strange...

In any case, this is a very beautiful polish to paint with. Flows easily on to the nails and dries fast too. Two coats is all that is needed for coverage. The color is a lovely dark red / purple filled with lots of goldflakes that gives the polish an incredible depth. Easily one of my favorite polishes in my collection and one that I highly recommend if you have not tried any Orly yet, but are considering it.

You know how this goes for now, under the pictures there is a new poll. This week the polishes have been choosen by my youngest son straight from my untried box.

Holofredag - Mentality Siren

Skimmerskuggans holofredag och teamträffsfredag! Ingen dålig kombination minsann.

Lacket som jag visar här idag hade jag knappt sett några swatcher på när jag bestämde mig för att det här vill jag ha. En helt klart annorlunda färg på ett hololack kände jag. Vad är det för färg då? Ja, förklara det ni. Basfärgen är vinröd aktig eller aubergin aktig kanske. Sen känns det som att det är duokromt också för jag tycker det ser grått eller lite brunt eller kanske är det lila ut i vissa ljus. 

Till saken hör att jag struntar i färgbenämningen på det här, ni får gärna kommentera och säga vad ni tycker att det är för färg. För mig räcker det med att jag gillar det! Mycket faktiskt. Det är inte den värsta holoeffekten, men den är ju där i alla fall.

På bilderna har jag två lager och ett lager av China Glaze Fast Forward över. 

Kollektionen heter The Dark Side Holos och det här lacket har då namnet Siren. Jag äger en till av dom här och så ett holo från en annan kollektion som heter The Precious Holo collection, men dom får ni se en annan gång. 

Till på köpet så gillade jag formulan riktigt mycket. Påminner lite om A-England dvs lite tjockare och det gillar jag. Penslen var också trevlig. Faktum är att torktiden också var trevlig, något jag har känt varit lite sämre på vissa Indie holos jag testat.

It's Skimmerskuggans holofriday ​​and we have a team party at work tonight! Not a bad combination.

The polish that I show here today is a one that I bought without hardly seeing any swatches of. I just new that I needed this polish anyway. A clearly different color on a holopolish in my opinion. What color is it then? Please explain it to me if you can. The base color is brownish burgundy or aubergine-like perhaps. Then it feels like it's duochrome also because I think it looks a little gray or brown or maybe it's purple in certain light.

The thing is that I don't care about trying to name the color on this, feel free to comment and say what you think it is. For me it is enough that I like it! Much indeed. It's not the strongest holo that I own, but it's there anyway.

In the pictures I have two coats of Siren and a layer of China Glaze Fast Forward over.

The collection is called The Darkside Holos and this polish's  named Siren. I own another one from that collection and also one from the Precious Holo collection, but I will save them for another friday.

As you understand I like the color a lot and I also like the formula a lot. Reminds me of A-England with that  little thicker formula and I like that. The brush was also nice. In fact, the drying time was also nice, something I've been a bit disapointet with in other Indie holos I tested.
