Golden Oldie Challenge - Glitter

Då var det dags att visa glitter och jag tog fram ett som jag helt klart inte använt på länge för när jag skruvade av korken insåg jag att det skulle behövas tinner, mycket tinner innan jag kunde måla med det här.

Lacket är Dollish Polish It's A Me Mario ett glitterlack med klar bas, röda och blåa hexagoner i olika storlekar och silvriga stjärnor.

Jag valde att göra som förra gången och lägga det över Essie Aruba Blue och är riktigt nöjd med hur det blev.

Även efter uttunningen var det rätt tjockt vill jag lova så det räckte absolut med ett lager glitter över den blåa basen. På bilderna har jag topplack också.

Lekfullt är väl ett rätt bra ord för att beskriva både lacket och manikyren. Älskar färgerna i detta och gillar hur det ser ut på naglarna.

So it's time to show some glitter and I came up with one that I clearly have not used in a long time because when I unscrewed the cap, I realized that it would require thinner, much thinner before I could paint with this.

The polish is Dollish Polish It's A Me Mario glitter polish with clear base, red and blue hexagons in different sizes and silvery stars.

I chose to do like the last time I used this and layered it over Essie Aruba Blue and are really pleased with how it turned out.

Even after the thinning this was really thick, I certainly was enough with one layer of glitter over the blue base. In the pictures I have topcoat on too.

Playfully is a pretty good word to describe both the polish and manicure. I love the colors in this and like how it looks on my nails.

KB Shimmer - Ruby

Igår var första jobbardagen efter semestern och även första jobbardagen på sista veckan på jobbet jag har nu. Jag tänker vända blad i boken och gå vidare efter mer än 10 år på samma ställe.

Och när det är sista veckan måste man ju ha riktigt snygga naglar, dessutom är det ju fortfarande min födelsedagsmånad och jag har liksom sparat på det här lacket tills dess.

Lacket är KB Shimmer Ruby som är en del i Birthstone kollektionen som släpptes i Januari. Ruby eller Rubin på svenska är Julis månadssten och även månadslack. Ett körsbärsrött lack gjort av metallflakes. Så smidigt att jobba med och täcker på två snabbtorkande lager. På bilderna har jag topplack också.

Jag gillar rött, jag är född i Juli så det här är nästan som gjort för mig faktiskt. Jag tycker det är helt fantastiskt vackert. Ni skulle bara se hur det glimmar i solen. Tyvärr har jag inga mer från den här kollektionen och mer lär det inte bli just nu heller då jag som snart arbetslös måste hålla ner lite på mina inköp.

Yesterday was the first working day after my summer vacation and also the first working day of the last week at my job. The book of my life will turn into a blank page full of opportunities and move on after more than 10 years at the same work.

And when it's the last week I must of course have really nice nails and it's still my birthday month and I have saved this polish for this.

The polish is KB Shimmer Ruby which is a part of the Birthstone collection that was released in January. Ruby is July's birthstone and also the polish that represents this month. A cherry red polish made by metallflakies. So easy to work with and covers in two quick-drying layers. In the pictures I have topcoat on too.

I like red, I was born in July so this is almost like custom made for me. I think it's absolutely stunningly beautiful. You should see how it glitters in the sun. Unfortunately I have no more from this collection and will probably wont get more either right now since I soon will be unemployed and must cut down on polishbuying. 

The Nail Challenge Collaborative presents: 80s # 3

När jag gick på gymnasiet så fanns det en klädaffär i stan där jag gick i skolan som hette Trappan Glöder och där köpte man coola kläder.

Jag suktade efter en viss skjorta som fanns i lite olika färger (mest pastell) och som sen hade svarta penselstreck på sig. Min lycka var total när jag fick den där skjortan. Min var vit med svarta streck. Jag har förtvivlat försökt leta upp ett foto med den här skjortan, men inte hittat något. Jag har letat på nätet, men inte heller där har jag hittat någon bild som funkar. Så tyvärr har jag inga bildbevis just nu, men jag ska fortsätta letandet.

Det jag i alla fall är helt säker på är hur den såg ut och hur jag ville illustrera detta med manikyr nummer 3 på 80-tals temat.

En enkel manikyr som inte kunde bli mer perfekt för ändamålet. Basen är Zoya Purity och strecken är gjord med dry brush teknik och A-England Camelot.

When I was in high school, there was a clothing store in the town where I went to school named Trappan Glöder and that's where you bought the cool clothes.

I wanted one of the shirts they had soo much a shirt that could be bought in different colors (mostly pastel) and then had black brushstrokes on it. My happiness was complete when I got that shirt. Mine was white with black streaks. I have desperately tried to locate a photo with this shirt, but found nothing. I've been looking online, but can't find any photos of that shirt. So unfortunately I have no photographic evidence right now, but I will continue the search.

Well, at least I'm dead sure on how that shirt looked and how I wanted to illustrate this with manicure number 3 on the 80's theme.

A simple manicure that could not be more perfect for the purpose. The base is Zoya Purity and the streaks are made with dry brush technique and A-England Camelot.

Reader's Choice - Color Club Pinky Swear

Lördag, solen strålar och fjärilarna fladdrar överallt i trädgården!

Ska strax hoppa in i duschen och göra mig redo för en ny dag, men först vill jag lägga ut veckans reader's choice.

När ni röstade senast så blev det Color Club Pinky Swear som vann. Ett lack som jag trodde hade en klar bas med glitter i blått, cerise och silver. Och det kanske den är också, men jag ville lägga det här över ett vitt lack och de blåa microglittren gjorde att det ser ut som ett ljusblått lack med glitter i.

Inte alls dumt på något sätt, för jag tycker det blev riktigt fint, men lite smått överraskad blev jag allt. Jag har alltså lagt ett lager med Pinky Swear över Zoya Purity. Glittren spred ut sig riktigt bra och torktiden var ok. Jag har topplack över på bilderna.

Det här blev inte alls dumt även om det inte blev som jag förväntat mig. Fint, men kanske inte ett favoritglitter. Kan nog tänka mig att det är kanon att använda till en glittergradient.

Det blev blåa lack som ni får rösta på till nästa vecka för det bestämde min lille gubbe.

Saturday, the sun is shining from a blue skye and the butterflies are everywhere in the garden!

I should really get ready for a new day, but first I want to write and publish this week's Reader's Choice.

When you voted last time it was Color Club Pinky Swear that won. A polish that I thought had a clear base with glitter in blue, pink and silver. And perhaps it has, but I wanted to put this over a white base and the blue microglitters made it look like a light blue polish with glitter.

Not bad at all in any way, because I think it turned out really nice, but a little surprising. So I have added a layer of Pinky Swear over Zoya Purity. The glitters spread out really well and the drying time was ok. I have a layer of topcoat over in the pictures.

This was not bad at all although it was not as I expected. Nice, but perhaps not a favorite glitter. I can imagine that this is great for a glittergradient.

For next weeks poll you get to vote on blue polishes because that is what my husband said when I asked him to say a color. 

Golden Oldie Challenge - White

Nu blev det visst en liten bloggpaus igen, men nu har jag ny dator som förhoppningsvis gör att det går lite lättare och fortare att kunna redigera bilder. Däremot kan jag inte lova helt säkert att det inte blir mer små pauser, Det där med semester kan göra mycket konstigt med ens rutiner!

Men, den här veckan är det i alla fall dags för att visa vita lack i vårt Golden Oldie Challenge och jag har plockat fram mitt absoluta favoritlack av mina vita. Det jag använder så fort jag behöver vitt till nail art eller som bas till neoner eller andra lack.

Zoya Purity är ett vitt krämlack som går att få täckande på ett lager om man tar något tjockare, men jag har två lager och topplack på bilderna.

Jag har börjat gilla vita naglar mer och mer och det här lacket är riktigt bra att jobba med så det är och förblir nog ett tag min vita favorit.

Well it became a bit of a blog break again, but now I have a new computer that will hopefully make it work a little easier and faster to edit images. However, I can not promise for sure that there wont be any more breaks, Vacation does funny things with your routines!

However, this week it's time to show white polishes in our Golden Oldie Challenge and I have picked up my absolute favorite of my whites. The one I use whenever I need a white to nail art or as a base to neons or other polishes.

Zoya Purity is a white cream polish which is possible to get opaque in just one layer if you use a thicker one, but I have two layers and top coat on in the pictures.

I've started to like white nails more and more and this polish is really great to work with so I think it will remain my favorite for a while.

Depend 7 Day - BFF Best Friends Forever

Jag har varit iväg på semester i London och när det var dags att fixa naglarna inför resan ville jag ju givetvis ha något som skulle hålla bra. Är jag på semester fixar jag inte alls med naglarna och tar mig inte tid att byta lack.

Jag fick för mig att jag skulle testa Depend 7 Day systemet och se om det verkligen håller vad det lovar. Så jag har gjort exakt som det står i beskrivningen. Rengjort, använt avsätt baslack, färg och topplack. För mig blev nog största problemet baslacket. Jag använder nämligen normalt sett ridgefiller eftersom jag har ganska "randiga" naglar, så visst sken det igenom något mer än vad det brukar göra när jag är färdig, men ändå inte så att det såg gräsligt ut.

I alla fall så hade jag ett otestat 7 Day lack som heter BFF Best Friends Forever som jag använt. Det är ett mellangrått krämlack i en trevlig grå nyans. En färg som jag var säker på att jag skulle trivas i fler än två dagar. Jag har två lager av detta och sen det speciella topplacket som ska användas till systemet.

I beskrivningen står det att man helst ska lägga på ett nytt lager topplack var tredje dag. Det har jag inte gjort eftersom jag valde att inte plocka med mig något mer nagelrelaterat än en fil och lite olja.

Jag målade med det här den 8/7 och vi kom hem den 13/7. Visst jag har ju mest turistat, men det blir en hel del handtvättning, man går i affärer och petar på saker och jag lyckades slå i naglarna någon gång också. På min vänsterhand hade jag vid hemkomst inte en enda chippning, visst lite tipwear, men inte så det störde direkt. På högerhanden fanns det en del, men det berodde nog mest på att jag på den handen har ett par naglar som skivar sig och en gick också sönder. Annars tror jag faktiskt det hade hållit även där.

Jag är riktigt nöjd med både hållbarheten och hur glansen höll sig på naglarna. Visst en påfyllning av topplack är säkert att föredra, men det funkade ju ändå!

I've been away on vacation in London and when it was time to fix my nails before the trip I really wanted something that would work until I came home again. When I'm on vacation I don't pay any attention to my nails. I don't bring any extra polish and definitly wont change polish during the vacation. 

I therefore decided to try out the Depend 7 Day system and see if it really delivers what it promises. So I have done exactly as it says in the description. Used the cleanser to get rid of oil and other stuff on the nails, used the special basecoat, color and topcoat. For me the biggest problem was the basepolish. I normally use ridge filler because I have quite a lot of ridges in my nails, so sure it didn't make them as even as I'm used to, but it worked.

In any case, I had an untested 7 Day polish called BFF Best Friends Forever that I used. It's a medium gray cream polish in a nice shade of gray. A color that I was sure that I would be able to have on my nails for more than two days without going crazy. I have two layers of this and then the special topcoat that is supposed to use with this system.

In the description it says that you should preferably add a new layer of topcoat every third day. I have not done that since I chose not bring any more nail-related stuff than a file and some oil.

I painted with this on the 8th and we came home on the 13th. Sure, I have mostly been doing sightseeing stuff, but there has been a lot of hand washing, going into shops and looking through things and I managed to get some blows on the nails sometime too. On my left hand I had at homecoming, not a single chipping. On the right hand there was some, but I honestly think that if my nails on the right hand hadn't had problems with them scaling and actually one broke I don't think there would have been chipping on that hand either. Sure there were som tipwear, but nothing too much.

I'm really happy with both the sustainability and how the gloss remained on the nails. Certainly a new coat of topcoat every third day is preferable, but it worked anyway!

Golden Oldie Challenge - Holo

Jaha, det blev en något lite längre bloggpaus än vad jag tänkt. Datastrul och fixande med semesterbilder från vår Londonsemester tog tid. Dessutom har jag varit iväg på fotomaraton. Grymt roligt!

Det här inlägget skulle egentligen kommit upp i fredags så jag kunde varit med på holofredagen också, men som sagt man hinner inte allt när man har kul med andra saker så istället blir det idag så det i alla fall hinner vara med på vårt holotema i Golden Oldie Challenge.

För det är är verkligen en Golden Oldie. Ett lack som jag vet att många sucktade efter när det kommit ut och från ett märke som fortfarande står högt i kurs hos många av oss lacktokingar.

Enchanted Polish Gummy Worm är det jag tänker visa. Jag tror att det här kom ut någon gång under 2012 och själv har jag en flaska som är något kletig då jag fick den via en så kallad scratch & dent påse från Llarowe. Dvs man kunde köpa en hemlig påse med lack där dom kanske fått nerfläckade etiketter eller något annat skönhetsfel.

Det här är ett ljusgrönt holo som täcker på två lager och torkar superfort. På bilderna har jag topplack på också.

Visst är det en härlig färg, men så här fyra år senare tycker jag inte längre att det är ett unikt lack, finns en hel del liknande bland alla Indiemärken. Men visst det är fint och jag gillar det mycket.

Well, it became a slightly longer blog break than I intended. My computer has been stupid and working on my vacation photos from our London trip has taken it's time. And I have also been away on a photo marathon. Awesome fun!

This post was supposed to come up on Friday so I could have included it in the holofriday too, but as I said you don't always have time for everything, but at least I have had fun with other things, so instead it will be today, in any case it will still be posted on time to be included in our holotheme in the Golden Oldie Challenge.

For it's truly a Golden Oldie. A polish that I know many wanted to get their hands on when it came out and it's from a brand that still has a big place in many of us polishnerds heart and collections.

Enchanted Polish Gummy Worm is the polish that I will show you. I think this came out sometime in 2012 and my bottle has a smudgy label since I got it through a so called scratch & dent bag from Llarowe. That' when you buy a secret bag of polishes that can have some beauty spot like smudged label or some other blemish.

This is a light green holo that covers in two coats and dries super fast. In the pictures I have topcoat on too.

It sure is a lovely color, but now four years later I no longer think that it's a unique polish, there is a lot of similar among all Indie Brands. But of course it's nice and I like it a lot.

Golden Oldie Challenge - Holo

Veckans tema är holo och det fanns det ju en del att välja av, men min tanke med den här utmaningen är ju att försöka använda dom där lacken som stått oanvända längst och när jag kollade under fliken holo på bloggen så letade jag upp ett av de första hololacken jag visade här.

Det var i April 2012 som Color Club Wild At Heart fick äran att visas här första gången, nu en sisådär fyra år senare är det dags igen.

Det här är ett mörkt lila lack som inte har en superstark holo precis, men en fin en ändå tycker jag. Det är bra att jobba med och två lager räcker. På bilderna har jag topplack på.

Wild At heart släpptes redan 2009 av Color Club vilket får mig att känna att dom var rätt tidigt ute med holo bland mainstream märkena. Visst China Glaze hade ju släppt kollektioner, men så vanligt var det ändå inte med holo vid den här tidpunkten. Jag kan också tycka att det här har blivit lite bortglömt. Nä, om man kollar på uppsjön av holos som finns nu är det inte ett dugg unikt, men då borde det fått mer uppmärksamhet kan man tycka.

Jag tycker i alla fall att det är väl värt att bära igen, snygg färg, holo är alltid kul oavsett styrkan på det och ett lack som fortfarande går att få tag på till vettiga priser.

 

This week's theme is holo and there was a lot of polishes to choose from, but my thought with this challenge is of course to try to use those that was the longest time since I wore last and when I checked under the tab holo at the blog I found one of the first holo I showed here.

It was in April 2012 and it's Color Club Wild At Heart that was honored to appear here for the first time, now about four years later it's time again.

This is a dark purple polish that doesn't have a super strong holo, but a nice one anyway I think. It's good to work with and two layers is enough. In the pictures I have topcoat on.

Wild at Heart was released back in 2009 by Color Club, which makes me feel that they were pretty early with an holo among mainstream brands. Certainly China Glaze had released their OMG collection, but it wasn't that usual with holos at this time. I also think that this has become a bit forgotten. No, if you look at the magnitude of Holos available now, it's not at all unique, but back then I think it should have been given more attention.

I think in any case that it's well worth to wear again, great color, holo is always fun no matter the strength of it and a polish that is still possible to get at sensible prices.

Sia with stamping

Häromdagen visade jag en manikyr som jag gjort med hjälp av grejer från Depend  och då har jag för mig att jag också skrev att det fanns ytterligare en stämpelplatta i paketet jag fick därifrån. Idag tänker jag visa en manikyr gjord med hjälp av just den.

Basen är Zoya Sia som jag sen stämplat med Hit The Bottle A Bolt From The Blue och mönstret är som sagt från Depends nya stämpelplatta.

Att jag gillar ton i ton stämpligar är ju ingen större hemlighet och jag tycker att det här blev riktigt snyggt. Färgerna matchar varandra bra och mönstret är fint.

The other day I showed a manicure that I made using stuff from Depend and I also think that I mentioned that there was another stamping plate in the shipment I got from them. Today I show you a manicure done using that particular plate.

The base is Zoya Sia that I then stamped with Hit The Bottle A Bolt From The Blue and the pattern is, as stated from Depends new stamping plate.

The fact that I like tone on tone stamping is no big secret and I think this turned out really neat. The colors match eachother well and the design is nice.

Idag är det min födelsedag! Jag fyller faktiskt 45 år. Jösses vad tiden gick fort får jag nog lov att säga, tycker inte alls det är länge sedan man hade småbarn och nu är dom vuxna män. 

Jag visade Depend 488 häromdagen och på detta lacket har jag stämplat med mönster från Überchic 6-02 med hjälp av Hit the Bottle Paint The Town Violet. 

Själv tycker jag att det här blev ett alldeles lysande sätt att fira sin födelsedag på via naglarna. 

Today it's my birthday! My 45th birthday actually. I must say that time passed quickly. I don't feel like it's so long ago that I had young children and now they're grown up men.

I showed Depend 488 the other day and on this polish I then stamped with patterns from UberChic 6-02 using Hit the Bottle Paint The Town Violet.

Personally, I think this is an absolutely brilliant way to celebrate the birthday with some help of nail art.

Denna månaden är det 80-talet som gäller och när jag satt och funderade på vad jag skulle hitta på så kom jag och tänka på mina neonfärgade nitbälten. Smala, smala bälten som jag hade ett i rosa och ett i gult med runda nitar på. Jag ångrar att jag inte sparade dom när vi rensade ut mitt barndomshem, men man kan ju inte ta vara på allt kanske.

Nåväl, det har jag har gjort är att måla med Eyko Punk Punk Polish som hade behövt tunnas ut lite, för det hade stått och blivit rejält tjockt. På det har jag satt runda nitar som fanns i min nail art låda.

This month we have th 80s as our theme and when I sat down and thought about what I would do I remembered my neon colored studded belts that I had. Narrow, narrow belts that I had one in pink and one in yellow with round rivets. I regret that I didn't save them when we cleaned out my childhood home, but you can't take care of everything, perhaps.

Well, what I have done is to paint with Eyko Punk Polish who had needed to be thinned out a bit, for it had become really thick. On that I have sat round rivets that I found in my nail art kit.

Reader's Choice - OPI Fresh Frog of Bel Air

Ännu en vecka har passerat och det betyder att jag snart bara har två semesterveckor kvar!

Idag är det som ni vet lördag och läsarnas val här hos mig. Lacket ni rösta fram förra veckan är ett från OPIs Muppet Collection från 2011 och jag konstaterade att det är bara ett glitter jag saknar från den kollektionen och det är det blåa Gone Gonzo.

Men idag är det Fresh Frog of Bel Air vi ska koncentrera oss på. Det här är ett glitterlack med klar bas, mindre glitter i grodgrönt och något större hexagoner i silver. Man kan kanske få det opakt på egen hand om man tar många lager eller svampar på det, men jag har som vanligt valt att lägga det över ett svart krämlack.

Två lager över det svarta är vad jag har på bilderna. Glittret sprider ut sig riktigt smidigt och torkar i en helt ok takt. Det är inte precis en topplacksätare. Ett lager med topplack räcker och när jag skriver det här har det suttit på i alla fall i tolv timmar och ingen tendens till att jag behöver lägga på ett till.

Jag tycker det är ett ganska kul glitter, kanske inte det vackraste som finns, men lekfullt och väldigt snyggt över svart. Kan tänka mig att det här skulle vara perfekt till St.Patriks day.

Vi kör väl lite mer glitter va? Till nästa vecka är det nämligen glitterlack som ni har att rösta på.

Another week has passed and that means that I soon only have two weeks of vaccation left!

Today it's as you know Saturday and readers' choice here at Lacky Corner. The polish you voted for last week is from OPIs Muppet Collection from 2011 and I realised that it's just one of the glitter polishes from this collection that I don't have and that is the blue Gone Gonzo.

But today we should concentrate on Fresh Frog of Bel Air. This is a glitter polish with clear base, small frog green glitters and slightly larger hexagons in silver. One can perhaps get it opaque on it's own if you take many layers or sponge it on, but I have as usually chosen to put it over a black cream polish.

Two coats of Fresh Frog over the black base is what I have in the pictures. The glitter spreads out really smoothly and dries in an ok pace. It's not a glitter that eats the topcoat.  One layer of topcoat is enough and as I write this I have been wearing this for a good twelve hours and it doesn't look at all as if I should need more topcoat. 

I think it's a pretty fun glitter, maybe not the prettiest there is, but playful and very nicely over black. I can imagine that this would be perfect for St.Patriks day.

Let's have some more glitter shall we? For next week you will have three different glitter polishes to vote on.

Depend - 488

Återigen har jag blivit väldigt positivt överraskad av ett Depend lack. För nummer 488 är också ett sånt där lack som ser nästan tråkigt ut i flaskan, men jag måste säga att det här var väldigt fint när jag fått det på naglarna.

488 är ett riktigt ljust rosa krämlack nästan så att jag vill säga vitt med rosa nyans, men det är nog att ta i förstås. I alla fall är det ett sånt där lack som ser väldigt fräscht ut på naglarna och inte alls tantigt som jag befarade att det skulle göra.

Det var bra att lacka med och täcker på två lager. På bilderna har jag topplack på också.

Jag blev faktiskt lite kär i det här lacket. Gillar det skarpt, men det satt inte länge på naglarna förrän det fanns lite nail art på, men den får ni se på måndag.

Kanske ska säga också att 488 är en del av Depends sommarkollektion som du kan hitta ute i butikerna just nu.

Again, I have been very pleasantly surprised by a Depend polish. Because number 488 is also one of those polishes that looks almost dull in the bottle, but I must say that this was very nice when I got it on the nails.

488 is a really light pink cream polish almost as I want to say white with pink in it, but that might be a bit excessive I guess. In all cases, it's one of those polishes that looks very fresh on the nails and not like something and old lady would wear as I feared it would look at all. 

It was good to paint with and covers in two layers. In the pictures I have topcoat on too.

I actually fell a little in love with this polish. I like it a lot, but it didn't sit long on my nails before it had some nail art on it, but you'll see that on Monday.

Perhaps I should say that 488 is part of Depends summer collection that you can find in stores right now.
