Golden Oldie Challenge - Orange

Denna veckan är det orange som är temafärgen i Golden Oldie Challenge och jag har plockat fram ett av mina absoluta favoriter. Ett lack som jag faktiskt funderar på att fix en back-up till medans det ännu går.

Lacket är China Glaze Riveting. Det är varken första eller sista gången ni ser det här hos mig kan jag nog lova. Mina flaska är halvtom eller jag väljer att säga halvfull och det är inte många av mina lack som jag använt så mycket av.

En liten rolig grej med det här lacket är att när jag allra första gången målade med det så tänkte jag först att nej det här kommer jag aldrig att trivas i, men en stund senare hade mina tankar gjort en helomvändning.

Riveting är ett knalligt orange lack med underbart guldskimmer i. Det är smidigt att jobba med och täcker på två lager. På bilderna har jag topplack på.

Det här lacket är som sagt ett av mina stora favoriter. Det har en så otrolig glöd i sig och är så färgglatt och man blir helt enkelt glad av att ha det på naglarna. Och det här går att få tag på fortfarande. I alla fall på ebay och vissa nätbutiker som säljer av China Glaze äldre kollektioner.

This week the theme color in the Golden Oldie Challenge is orange and I have picked up one of my absolute favorites. A polish that I'm actually thinking of getting a back-up to while it is still possible.

The polish is China Glaze Riveting. It's neither the first nor the last time you see it here at Lacky Corner I promise. My bottle is half empty or I choose to say half full and there are not many of my polishes that I used so much.

A little fun thing with this polish is that when I painted with this the very first time I first thought that no, this is something I will never feel comfortable in, but a moment later my mind had changed and I have loved it ever since. 

Riveting is a bright orange polish with wonderful golden shimmer. It's easy to work with and covers in two layers. In the pictures I have topcoat on.

This polish is as I said one of my all time favorites. It has such an incredible glow to it and are so colorful and that you will simply feel happy with it on your nails. And this is still possible to buy. At least on eBay or some online stores that sell China Glazes older collections.

OPI What's The Double Scoop? + Flip Flops & Crop Tops

Idag blir det rosa så det förslår här på bloggen! Två av dom färgerna som jag fick skickat till mig från OPIs Retro Summer kollektion som släpps här i Sverige nu i slutet på Maj var det ljust rosa What's The Double Scoop? och det nästan neonaktiga Flip Flops & Crop Tops.

Direkt när jag fick dom tänkte jag att ok, det här är inte riktigt mina färger, men ändå kul att testa. Och direkt kände jag också att dom nog skulle funka bra tillsammans i en nail art.

Givetvis var jag ju då tvungen att hitta på något med dessa båda lacken. Och det jag gjorde var att måla varannan nagel med lacken. Efter det la jag på topplack som fick torka riktigt ordentligt. Sen använde jag mig av nail vinyls för att täcka delar av nageln och måla med motsatt färg på övrig nagel för att få fram stjärnmönstret ni ser på bilderna. Och så topplack på igen.

What's The Double Scoop var något lite knepigare att jobba med än vad Flip Flops & Crop Tops var tyckte jag. Det blev något lite strimmigt, men täckte ändå på två lager. Flip Flops var riktigt smidigt att applicera och två lager räckte där också.

Jag tycker verkligen att de här två färgerna funkar kanonbra ihop. För sig själva är Flip Flops min favorit av de två. Jag är riktigt, riktigt nöjd med den färdiga manikyren.

Today you will get enough pink to last for a long time here on the blog! Two of the colors that I got sent to me from OPIs Retro Summer collection was the lighter pink What's The Double Scoop? and the almost neon-like Flip Flops & Crop Tops.

Immediately when I got them, I thought ok, this is not really my colors, but still fun to try. And I instantly felt that they probably would work well together in a nail art.

And of course I had to do something with these two polishes together. I painted two nails with Flip Flops and two nails with What's the Double Scoop. After that I put topcoat on that was allowed to dry really well. Then I used  nail vinyls to cover part of the nail and paint with the opposite color on the rest of the nail to get the star pattern you see in the pictures. And to finish some more topcoat.

What's The Double Scoop was a bit trickier to work with than Flip Flops & Crop Tops were, I thought. It became a bit streaky at first, but still covered in two layers. Flip Flops was really easy to apply and two layers was enough there too.

I really think these two colors works great together. If I had to pick one of the colors it would be Flip Flops & Crop Tops as my favorite.  I'm really, really pleased with the finished manicure.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents: Spring Fashion # 3

Förra söndagen blev det återigen en liten paus. Jag har sista tiden lidit av en mild utmattning och hade inte ork att fixa något söndagsinlägg, men denna söndagen är jag tillbaka med The Nail Challenge Collaborative inlägget igen.

Det här är min tredje manikyr inspirerad av vår mode. Och för tredje gången har jag kollat runt bland klänningarna på Ellos och hittat inspiration. Denna gången en klänning som jag absolut kunnat tänka mig att bära.

Jag har använt mig av Zoya Elisa som bas. Jag la på topplack och lät det torka ordentligt innan jag använde mig av nail vinyls för att göra mallar för ränderna. Det mörkare röda lacket som jag sen målade med är Orly Torrid.

Jag är sjukt nöjd med den här manikyren. Älskar kombon av de två röda färgerna och kan mycket väl tänka mig att göra om den här igen.

I did take a little break from blogging again last Sunday. I have recently suffered from being stressed out and very tired so I  didn't have the energy to do the post but this Sunday I am back with The Nail Challenge Collaborative post again.

This is my third manicure inspired by spring fashion. And for the third time I've checked around among the dresses at Ellos for inspiration. This time a dress that I absolutely could think of wearing myself.

I am using Zoya Elisa as the base and then put topcoat on that got to dry thoroughly before I used nail vinyls to make templates for the stripes. The darker red polish which I then painted the stripes with is Orly Torrid.

I'm soo satisfied with this manicure. Love the combo of the two red colors and is pretty sure I will do this again.

Reader's Choice - OPI Gimme A Lido Kiss

Faktum är att jag fuskar lite idag för det var två lack som fick lika mycket röster, men som enväldig domare bestämde jag mig för att visa det som jag haft stående längst i min otestat låda.

Så därför blir det idag OPI Gimme A Lido Kiss som ni får se.

Gimme A Lido Kiss är ett eldigt rött lack med skimmer i. Det var riktigt smidigt att lacka med och täcker på två lager. Torktiden var bra och på bilderna har jag topplack på också.

Ja, vad ska säga, det är ett rött lack med mycket attityd och jag tycker det är riktigt snyggt. Passar lika bra till jul som till midsommarfesten skulle jag vilja påstå. Jag gillar det här väldigt mycket och eftersom jag älskar röda lack så är jag glad att jag har det i min samling.

Till nästa vecka får ni tre glitterlack att rösta på.

Ok I will admit that I'm actually cheating a bit today. Because the truth is that two polishes got exakt the same amount of votes. But as sole judge, I decided to show the one that I have had standing the longest in my untested drawer. 

So that is why you today will se swatches of  OPI Gimme A Lido Kiss.

Gimme A Lido Kiss is a fiery red polish with shimmer in. It was really easy to paint with and covers in two layers. The drying time was good and in the pictures I have topcoat on too.

There aint that much to say about this polish actually. It's a red polish with great attitude and I think it's really neat. Equally suitable for Christmas or Midsummer feast, I would say. I like this very much, and because I love red polishes I'm glad that I have it in my collection.

Superficially Colorful Lacquer - I'm Just A Little Batty

Till Sminkans inofficiella holofredag har jag idag plockat fram ett Halloweenlack. Det sista jag hade kvar från Superficially Colorful Lacquers Halloweenkollektion som jag köpte i sin helhet.

Det här är det svarta I'm Just A Little Batty. Det är ganska svårt att få tag på "riktiga" svarta hololack, men jag skulle vilja kategorisera det här som ett av dom. Anledningen till det är att det ser svart ut både i skugga, sol och när man har en ljuskälla direkt på nageln. Många svarta holo ser mer gråa än svarta ut, inte detta dock.

Formulan var av det tjockare slaget och ett lager borde kunna räcka, men jag var lite ostadig på handen och målade lite tunnare på någon av naglarna och la därför två lager på allihopa. Torktiden är bra och på bilderna har jag topplack på.

Jag gillar verkligen svarta lack och även om det här inte har en superstark holo så tycker jag att det är tillräckligt för att göra lacket intressant och snyggt. Ett lack som absolut är i min smak.

 

For Sminkans unofficial holoriday ​​today I picked up a Halloween polish. The last one I had left from Superficially Colorful Lacquers Halloween collection that I bought in its entirety.

This is the black I'm Just A Little Batty. It's pretty hard to get a "real" black holo, but I would categorize this as one of them. The reason for it is that it looks black both in shade, sun and when you have a light source directly on the nail. Many black holos look more gray than black but not this however.

The formula was on the thicker side and one layer should be enough, but I was a little unsteady on my hand and painted a little thinner on one of the nails and put therefore two layers on all of them. The drying time is good and in the pictures I have topcoat on.

I really like black polishes and although this does not have a super strong holo I think it's enough to make the polish interesting and neat. A polish that is absolutely in my taste.

Depend 489 with stamping decal

På mitt Instagramkonto visade jag häromdagen att jag äntligen testat att göra en stampingdecal. Den blev helt ok, men kanske inte topp. Nu vet jag ju i alla fall att jag kan och att det var kul, så det lär bli mera.

Jag funderade på vad jag skulle ha för lack ihop med den och hittade ett från Depends sommarkollektion som jag tänkte kunde funka.

Depend 489 är ett ljust rosa lite pärlemoraktigt lack och om jag ska vara helt ärlig så fick det inte mitt hjärta att slå några extra slag alls. Färgen är ok, men jag gillade inte finishen på det här. Det kändes lite för tantigt för mig. Däremot var det helt ok att måla med och täckte på två lager.

Dekalen har jag gjort med hjälp av ett mönster från BP-L015 som jag stämplade med Girly Bits British Racing Green och sen fyllde i lite på löven med Models Own Chrome Green.

Allt som allt så tycker jag att färgerna i mönstret och det rosa Depend 489 funkar bra ihop, men jag var för den skull inte överförtjust i manikyren. Återigen är det ett lack som jag inte kommer bära på egen hand igen, men det kan dyka upp i någon nail art.

I showed you on my Instagramaccount the other day that I finally tried to make a stampingdecal. It turned out quite ok, but maybe not perfect. Well at least I now know that I can and that it was fun, so it'll be more.

I wondered what I would use as a polish to match the decal and found one from Depends summer collection that I thought could work.

Depend 489 is a light pink with some pearl finish in and if I'll be honest, it did not get my heart to beat any faster at all. The color is ok, but I didn't like the finish. To me it felt like something my mother would like. However, it was totally ok to paint with and covered in two layers.

I made the sticker using a pattern from BP-L015 that I stamped with Girly Bits British Racing Green and then filled in a little on the leaves with Models Own Chrome Green.

All in all, I think the colors of the pattern and the pink Depend 489 works together, but that still didn't make me love this manicure. This is another polish that I probably wont be using on it's own again but you never know it might turn up in some nail art in the future. 

Golden Oldie Challenge - Green

Denna veckan är det grönt som gäller i vårt Golden Oldie Challenge och jag har ännu en vecka hittat en liten trevlig flaska i mina gömmor som fortfarande går att få tag på i affärer eller på nätet.

Zoya Meg kommer precis som Rory som jag visade i vår rosa vecka från Surf kollektionen från 2012 och är ett ljust grönt foil lack med gula undertoner. Jag har valt att göra en accentnagel till det här med hjälp av en vattendekal från Born Pretty Store.

Hela surf kollektionen var trevlig formula på och Meg täcker utan problem med två lager. Torktiden är bra och på bilderna har jag topplack på också. Vattendekalen var smidig att få att lossna från sitt skyddspapper och lätt att applicera.

Det var väldigt länge sedan jag plockade fram Meg ur lådan sist och det är lite synd det för det här är en mycket snygg grön färg och speciellt nu när solen börjar krypa fram passar den bra tycker jag. Desssutom gillade jag accentnageln till.

Och så passar det ju in att jag visar det här idag så jag även kan delta i Karins Gröna Onsdag.

This week theme in our Golden Oldie Challenge is green and I have again found a nice little bottle in my stash that still is possible to buy in stores or online.

Zoya Meg is like Rory that I showed in our Pink Week from the 2012 Surf collection and is a light green foil polish with yellow undertones. I have chosen to do an accent nail to this with the help of a water decal from Born Pretty Store.

The entire Surf collection have a really nice formula and Meg covers without problems in two layers. The drying time is good and in the pictures I have topcoat on too. The Water decal was easy to get to detach from its protective paper and easy to apply.

I haven't used Meg for a long time and that is a pity because this is a very nice green polish and especially now, when the sun begins to come out again. And I do really like it with the accentnail too.

OPI - I'm Getting a Tan-gerine

När jag först la på OPI I'm Getting a Tan-gerine var min tanke att nehej det här var inte något för mig.

Lacket är persikofärgat något lite dammig färg kanske och inte den färgen som jag vanligen trivs i. Först tyckte jag bara det var rent av tråkigt, men när jag hade suttit med den en stund insåg jag att det nog är jättefint om man har fått sig lite solbränna. Fortfarande ingen höjdare i mina ögon, men helt ok.

Dessutom tror  jag att det skulle göra sig med lite stamping på.

Hur var formulan då? Jo, inte helt tokig faktiskt. Det är ändå ett lack som drar åt pastell så första lagret var lite strimmigt. Men, jag har två lite tjockare lager och det funkade bra tyckte jag. Visst topplack är absolut att rekommendera för att jämna ut ordentligt.

Nej, inte alls någon favoritfärg, men den får ändå mig att längta efter sommar, sol och glass.

When I first put on OPI I'm Getting a Tan-Gerine my thought was that Oh no this was not something for me.

The polish is a little dusty peachy color and maybe not the color I usually thrive in. At first I just thought it was downright boring, but when I had looked at it on the nails for a while I realized that it probably will be really beautiful when you have gotten some tan. 

Also, I think it would do great with a little stamping on.

How was the formula then? Well, not that bad actually. This is after all a polish leaning towards pastel so the first layer was a little streaky. However, I have did two little thicker once and it worked good I thought. Sure I really do recommend topcoat to smooth out properly.

No, not at all a favorite color, but it makes me long for summer, sun and ice cream.

Review of nail decorations from Lady Queen

Idag har jag lite dekorationsstenar från Lady Queen att visa er. Jag använder mig inte så värst ofta av den här typen av dekorationer då jag inte är riktigt kompis med saker som sticker upp från naglarna.

Det finns förstås flera olika typer av stenar, nitar och liknande. Vissa är väldigt platta och små och vissa större och rundare.

Just dom här sticker upp ganska mycket från nageln, vilket är lite synd tycker jag då jag verkligen gillar mönstret på dom. De finns i flera olika färger, men jag valde den lite rostfärgade och gjorde en accentnagel. Lacket jag har på övriga naglar är ProNails Folksy Frock. Som sagt snygga, men något lite för stora och sticker upp lite väl mycket. Kanske hade varit snyggare med enbart en sten längst ned.

Today I have some decorative stones from Lady Queen to show you. I don't use this kind of decorations that often since I'm the type of person who doesen't like having things standing out from the nails. 

There are of course many different kinds of stones, rivets and other decorations. Some are very flat and small and some larger and rounder.

These they I show you today are the sort that sticks out from the nail pretty much, which is a pity I think because I really like the pattern on them. They are available in several colors, but I chose the kind of rust colored and made an accent nail. The polish I have on the other nails are ProNails Folksy Frock. Well as I said I think they are a little too high for me and maybe a bit to big as well. Maybe I just should have had one stone close to the cuticle instead.

Reader's Choice - Bow Nail Polish Quasar

Hej på er! Här kommer veckans läsarnas val inlägg, något senare än vanligt då jag har ägnat större delen åt att vara på trav i Tingsryd. Och nej, det blev inga inkomster där inte, bara utgifter, men det var kul ändå.

Veckans lack är Bow Nail Polish Quasar och återigen var det en väldigt jämn omröstning. 

Quasar var smidigt att lacka med, men ganska skirt. Tre lager räckte dock för täckning och torktiden var bra. På bilderna har jag topplack på. 

Det här är ett duokrom lack som ska växla mellan guld och bronze enligt sidan där det köptes och det stämmer väl rätt bra även om jag tycker att det är mycket grönt i det också. Det finns även flakies i det.

Jag tycker att färgen är riktigt fin, men jag gillar inte flakiesarna. Förstår faktiskt inte anledningen till att dom är med i huvudtaget. För mig gör dom bara att lacket får en konstig finish och drar ned en hel del. Så om jag bedömer bara färgen så får det stort tummen upp, men i slutändan är jag inte helt nöjd i alla fall och det är pga flakiesen.

Hello! Here are this week's Readers' Choice posts, somewhat later than usual because I have spent the greater part of the day watching trotting races. And in case you are wondering I didn't make any profit from it rahter the opposit. But it was fun anyway.

This weeks polish is Bow Nail Polish Quasar and again it was a very close result.

Quasar was easy to paint with, but a bit sheer. Three layers was needed for coverage but the drying time was good. In the pictures I have topcoat on.

This is a duochrome polish that switch between gold and bronze according to the page where it was bought and I think that describes it pretty good although I think it's a lot of green in it too. There is also flakies in it.

I think the color is really nice, but I don't like the flakies. I really don't understand why they have added them at all. For me having them in the polish just gives it a strange finish and it takes down my impression of it a lot. So if I should judge this only by the color it would get big thumbs up, but in the end I have to judge the end result of the polish on the nails and I'm sorry to say that this doesn't work for me and it is because of the flakies.

For next weeks poll you'll have three red polishes to vote for. 

Nine Zero Lacquer - Frequency

Fredag och det firas med inofficiell holofredag hos Sminkan. Solen skiner och fåglarna kvittrar. Riktigt härligt.

Jag visar mitt andra lack från Nine Zero Lacquer idag. Det orangea Frequency och om jag tyckte Refractrion var snyggt, men kanske inte så där superspeciellt så är det inte fallet med Frequency. För det här lacket fullkomligt älskar jag.

Det har en tjockare formula än många andra lack, men det gillar jag. Man kan nog få det här till en onecoater, men jag har två på bilderna och topplack. Det var suveränt att måla med och i den här flaskan var penseln väldigt bra. Torktiden var också riktigt bra.

Det här är en lite varmare orange färg med något röd underton. Det var faktiskt kärlek vid första penseldraget för min del. Att det sen är fina regnbågar i lacket gör ju inte saken sämre :)

I show my second polish from Nine Zero Lacquer today. The orange Frequency and if I thought Refractrion was neat, but maybe not that super special that is not the case with Frequency. Because I absolutely love this polish.

It has a thicker formula than many other polishes, but I like that. You can probably use this as a onecoater, but I have two coats in the images and topcoat. It was great to work with and in this bottle the brush was very good. The drying time was also really good.

This is a little warmer orange color with some red undertone. Actually, it was love at first brush stroke on my part. And the nice rainbows in the polish does not make things worse :)

Golden Oldie Challenge - Blue

Denna veckan har vi färgen blå att utgå ifrån i vårt Golden Oldie Challenge och jag har plockat fram ett lack som jag vet att jag fick från min son i julklapp för ganska många år sedan. Ett lack som var jag vet enbart är använt en gång.

Det här är Essie Aruba Blue och som jag skrev förra veckan så är min plan att försöka visa lack som fortfarande går att få tag på. Det här vet jag med säkerhet går att köpa.

Lacket är ett djupblått metallic lack, men det finns även lite skimmer. På bilderna syns lite penseldrag, men dom syns inte alls i verkligheten. Jag har målat två lager och torktiden var bra. På bilderna har jag topplack på också.

Det här är verkligen supervackert och jag blir nästan arg på mig själv att jag inte använt det mer än en gång för det förtjänar verkligen inte att stå och damma i lådan. Jag har lite blandade känslor för Essie lack ibland är dom superbra och annars galet jobbiga att arbeta med. Det här tillhör de superbra och jag kan varmt rekommendera det.

This is Essie Aruba Blue, and as I wrote last week my plan is to try and show polishes that is still possible to buy. This I know with certainty is still available.

The polish is a deep blue metallic, but it's even a little shimmer in it. My images show some brushstrokes, but they are not visible at all in reality. I have painted two coats and the drying time was good. In the pictures I have topcoat on too.

This is really super nice and I feel angry at myself that I have not used it more than once because it certainly does not deserve to stand and collect dust in the drawer. I have some mixed feelings for Essie polishes sometimes they are super and otherwise really annoying to work with. This belongs to the super good onece and I can heartily recommend it.
