ABC Challenge - F = Femme Fatale Strings Of Light

Hörrni vad fort det här gick! Vi är redan framme på bokstaven F och faktum är att jag visar ett lack som inte stått så väldigt länge i lådan. För det här lacket fick jag nämligen hem strax efter jul.

Det här är Femme Fatale Strings Of Light från Color4Nails Holiday 2015 box som var inspirerad av olika scener ur Nightmare Before Christmas och var en Limited Edition box.

Mitt första från Femme Fatale dessutom. Strings Of Light är ett lavendelfärgat lack med glitter i guld, magenta och även prismatiskt. Det var riktigt lätt att lacka med och glittret spred ut sig på naglarna som smör i solsken. Det täcker på två lager, men tyvärr tyckte jag att torktiden var lite lång. Nu går ju det att fixa med snabbtorkande överlack, men den var allt lite slö.

Jag har haft det här på naglarna några dagar och trivs rätt bra i det måste jag säga. För mig är det absolut inget wow lack, men klart ok.

Time flies so fast! We are already on the letter F and todays fact is that I show a polish that has not been that long in my drawer. Because this one actually landed in my mailbox just after this Christmas. 

This is Femme Fatale Strings of Light from the Color4Nails Holiday 2015 box that was inspired by various scenes from the Nightmare Before Christmas movie and was a Limited Edition box.

My first polish from Femme Fatale. Strings of Light is a lavender colored polish with glitter in gold, magenta and also prismatic ones. It was really easy to paint with. The glitter spread out on the nails like butter in sunshine. It covers in two layers, but unfortunately I found that the drying time was a bit long. Now of course that is fixable with a quick drying top coat, but it was long anyway.

I have had this on the nails for a few days and thrive quite well in it, I must say. For me it's absolutely no wow polish, but clearly ok.

OPI - Honk If You Love OPI

Vad har man på naglarna när man ska på begravning av en ung person som bara hann fylla 22 år innan hans tid här hos oss tog slut? Min första tanke var den där traditionella att oj, nu måste jag antingen inte ha något alls eller något väldigt diskret.

Men min nästa tanke blev varför då? Vår vän som skulle begravas hade han verkligen brytt sig om vad jag hade på naglarna? Nä, det tror jag knappast han brytt sig över och i så fall hade han verkligen inte brytt sig över vilken färg det var. Istället bestämde jag mig för att även när det gällde färgen på lacket så skulle det vara en hyllning till honom. Hans favoritfärg var mörklila och det fick pryda mina naglar.

Jag plockade sonika fram ett av mina favoritlack som är OPI Honk If You Love OPI som jag valde att tona ner lite genom att lägga ett matt överlack över. Det förvandlade faktiskt lacket lite och gjorde det än mörkare. Det såg nästan svart ut faktiskt.

En dag som man vet kommer bli otroligt tung blir väl egentligen inte bättre för att man känner sig i sitt nagellack, men jag kände att jag valde helt rätt och tycker att det blev supersnyggt med den matta effekten.

What do you wear when you are attending a funeral of a young person that we only got to share 22 years of before his time here with us ended? My first thought was the traditional one.. It has to be very neutral or nothing at all. 

But my next thought was why? Our friend who was to be buried, would he really care about what I had on my nails? No, I hardly think so and if so he had not really bothered over what color it was. Instead, I decided that even when it came to the color of the polish it should be a tribute to him. His favorite color was purple and that is what I would wear on my nails.

I decided to use one of my favorite polishes that is OPI Honk If You Love OPI and I chose to tone it down a bit by adding a matte top coat. It actually turned the polish around a bit and changed it to look more blackish than purple actually.

A day that you know will be incredibly hard doesn't exactly become easier because you feel nice in your polish, but I felt that I chose just the right color and I think it turned out super nicely with the matt effect.

By K - Go-Around

Katarina på Edgy Polish undrade om jag ville testa några lack från By K och det ville jag gärna. Först ut är det oranga eller kanske mer rostfärgade Go-Around som kommer från en kollektion lack som är inspirerade av flygvärdinnor.

Det här var riktigt trevligt att måla med. Jag har två lager på bilderna, men ett hade nog faktiskt kunnat gå också. Speciellt om man har korta naglar. Torktiden var bra och på bilderna har jag topplack på också.

Färgen är riktigt snygg tycker jag. Det blir väldigt få synliga borstmärken trots att lacket räknas som ett metallic vilket är mycket positivt. Jag kan mycket väl tänka mig att bära det här igen och håller nu tummarna för att nästa By K lack jag testar är minst lika bra. Jag har ju provat Blue Lagoon innan och även om det var ett ok lack, så slår ju Go-Around det med hästlängder.

Katarina on Edgy Polish asked me if I wanted to try some polishes from By K and I said yes. First out is the orange or maybe more rust colored Go-Around that comes from a collection that are inspired by flight attendants.

This was really nice to paint with. I have two coats in the pictures, but one could probably been enough too. Especially if you have short nails. The drying time was good and in the pictures I have topcoat on too.

I think this color is really nice. There are very few visible brush marks, despite the fact that the polish counts as a metallic which is very positive. I can certinaly imagine wearing this again and are now holding my thumbs that the next By K polish that I test is just as good as this.  I've tried Blue Lagoon before and although it was an ok polish this one hits it with horse lengths.

ABC Challenge - E = Etude House Play #111

Återigen blir det idag ett lack som blivit stående alltför länge i min låda. Ett lack som jag vann i en giveaway och kanske inte tyckte såg så spännande ut i flaskan, men jag inser nu att jag hade helt fel.

Det här är Etude House Play #111 som får representera bokstaven E i vår utmaning.

Lacket består av en klar bas och har sen turkos och bronsfärgade glitter i olika storlekar. Jag funderade på vad jag skulle lägga det här över. Testade över svart och över vitt. Vitt såg helt klart bäst ut av dom, men sen fick jag för mig att testa över ett ljust grönt och där satt den. Den kombon blev helt klart bäst.

Jag har alltså lagt ett lager med glitter över Appeal4 Baby Palm Tree och jag gillar verkligen hur det här ser ut. På bilder tycker inte jag alltid glitter blir så tilltalande, men i verkligheten är det är en superkombo.

Once again I will show you a polish that has been standing too long in my drawer. A polish which I won in a giveaway and maybe I haven't thought it looked that exciting in the bottle, but I realize now that I was wrong.

This is Etude House Play # 111 that will represent the letter E in our challenge.

The polish consists of a clear base and then turquoise and bronze glitter in various sizes. At first I had a hard time deciding on what I would layer this over. I tested over black and white. It definitly looked better over white than black, but then I got the idea to try it over a light green and there it was. The combo was clearly the best.

So I have added a layer of glitter over Appeal4 Baby Palm Tree and I really like how this looks. I don't think glitter always looks that appealing in pictures but I can assure you that this is pretty amazing in reality.

Appeal4 - Baby Palm Tree

När jag sitter och skriver det här så snöar det rätt kraftigt utanför fönstret, men på naglarna har jag vårkänsla, för där sitter Appeal4 Baby Palm Tree.

Baby Palm Tree är ett riktigt ljust pastell grönt krämlack som har mycket gul ton i sig. Jag var inte så värst imponerad av formulan på det först. Det blev väldigt strimmigt och ojämnt, men jag konstaterade att det kanske var lite mitt fel också. För om jag hade tagit något tjockare lager redan på första lagret tror jag inte det blivit riktigt så illa som det blev.

Nåväl, det här var inte något som inte gick att rätta till. Jag har tre lager på bilderna och med ett bra topplack så blev det jämt och fint.

Färgerna på det här tycker jag är väldigt fin, fick vårkänslor direkt trots snö utanför. Jag kan tänka mig att det blir ännu finare när man kanske fått lite solbränna också.

Jag tycker absolut inte man ska bli avskräckt av att det blev lite strimmigt först, det går ju som sagt att göra något åt. Och jag är dessutom säker på att om man som jag sa tar tjockare lager färg redan från början så blir det mycket bättre och förmodligen skulle man nog kunna vara färdig på två lager då. Och sen får man inte glömma att det här är något som faktiskt är väldigt vanligt bland pastellfärger. Färgen är helt underbar så vill ni få vårkänslor rekommenderar jag Baby Palm Tree varmt.

 

When I'm writing this the snow is falling pretty heavy outside my window, but on my nails I have spring feeling and that is because of Appeal4 Baby Palm Tree.

Baby Palm Tree is a really bright pastel green cream polish that has a yellow tone to it. I was not very impressed with the formula at first. It became very streaky and uneven, but I found that it was perhaps a bit my fault too. For if I had taken a much more thicker layer on the very first one I don't think it would have become quite as bad as it got.

Well, this was certinaly something that could be correct. I have three layers in the images and a good topcoat makes it all even out and make it look really nice.

The color of this I think is very nice. I certinaly got spring feelings right away despite the snow outside. I can imagine that it gets even better when you have gotten a little sunburn too.

I certainly don't think you should be discouraged because it was a little streaky first, it is as I have said something that is possible to do something about. And I'm also sure that if as I also said you take thicker layers of paint from the start it will be much better and probably would be able to cover in two layers. And then we must not forget that this is something that is actually very common among pastel colors. The color is absolutely wonderful so if you want to get spring fever, I recommend Baby Palm Tree a lot. 

Reader's Choice - A-England Let Me In

Lördag och min mamma fyller år så det blir födelsedagslunch idag. Skönt att slippa laga mat själv i alla fall :)

Det var en jämn omröstning till denna veckan, men till slut var det ändå A-England Let Me In som gick vinnande ur striden.

Let Me In är ett vinrött lack med en svag, men väldigt snygg holoeffekt. I vissa ljus ser det nästan lite lila ut. Jag är säker på att man kan klara sig med ett lager, men jag har två på bilderna och topplack.

Alltså det här lacket är hur fint som helst. En väldigt trivsam färg som är lika fin både när man har naglarna i skuggan och i lite ljus. Ni vet det sen tidigare, men jag säger det igen. A-England är ett av mina favoritmärken och fortsätter dom att göra lack som det här så lär det fortsätta vara ett av favoriterna länge till. Gillar du vinröda lack på gränsen till lila så är det här ett måste i samlingen faktiskt.

Återigen är det slumpgeneratorn som fått välja lacken ni kan rösta på.

Saturday and it's my mom's birthday so we will go to here for a birthday lunch today. Nice not having to do the cooking :)

It was very close between two polishes in this weeks poll, but in the end it was A-England Let Me In that won the battle.

Let Me In is a burgundy polish with a slight, but very stylish holoe. In some lights it looks almost a bit purple. I'm sure you can get away with only one coat, but I have two in the images and topcoat.

This polish is just so beautiful. A really stylish color that is equally nice when you have your nails in the shade or some light. You know it from before, but I'll say it again. A-England is one of my favorite brands and if they continue to make this kind of colors they will continue to be one of the favorites for a long time. So if you like burgundy polishes on the border of purple, this is a must have in your collection indeed.

Again, it is the random number generator that has chosed the polishes for this weeks poll.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative presents: Typography #1

Den här månaden är temat som vi ska göra fyra manikyrer på typografi. Riktigt knepigt måste jag säga.

Har en känsla av att det kan bli lite på gränsen till ok inom ämnet manikyrer från min del. Men det är ju i alla fall Alla Hjärtans Dag på Söndag och efter en riktigt, riktigt tung vecka känns det bra att sprida lite kärlek här på bloggen.

I botten är det den franska manikyren jag visade häromdagen. På den har jag sedan stämplat lite text från BM-311 och hjärtana kommer från MoYou Nails 238. Jag fyllde i de båda hjärtana med hjälp av Essie Watercolor Blush Stroke som är en rosa skir färg.

Jag tycker att manikyren blev söt och lite romantisk, men kanske återigen inte något som sitter kvar så värst länge på naglarna.

This month's theme which we'll do four manicures from is typography. Really tricky, I must say.

I have a feeling that some of my manicures might be on the edge of ok from the subject, but I will try and do my best. But it's, after all, Valentine's Day on Sunday and after a really, really hard week, it feels good to spread a little love here on the blog.

I used my French manicure that I showed you the other day as the base. On top of that, I then stamped some text from BM-311 and hearts from MoYou Nails 238. I filled in the two hearts with the help of Essie Watercolor Blush Stroke that is a pink sheer color.

I think the manicure is really sweet and a bit romantic, but perhaps again not something that stays that long on my nails.

ABC Challenge - D = Darling Diva Polish Mach 1

Idag är det dagen D alltså som i bokstaven D i vårt ABC Challenge och ni kommer få höra det här många gånger under den här utmaningen, men varför har det här lacket stått så länge i lådan.

Jag fick hem ett gäng av Darling Diva Muscle Car kollektionen i början av Maj 2014 och Mach 1 har blivit stående ändå tills nu. Troligen för att jag hatar att plocka bort glitter lack. Det kommer att bli fler glitterlack under utmaningens gång jag lovar.

Mach 1 skulle man mycket väl kunna måla med på egen hand och få att täcka på tre lager skulle jag tro, men jag valde att lägga det över Chanel 337 Noir Ceramic istället och jag har bara ett lager av Mach 1. Och ändå så är det som en hel discokula.

Lacket består av en svart jellybas och sen massor, massor av prismatiskt glitter. Det sprider ut sig hur smidigt som helst på nageln. Torktiden är helt ok. På bilderna har jag två lager av topplack på. För det är ju trots allt ett glitter och dom har en förmåga att äta upp topplacket.

Det här är rent ut sagt skitsnyggt. En sån underbar glitterbomb och nu ska jag göra er besvikna.. Det går inte att få tag på längre förutom möjligen på någon blogsale. Synd, för det här är väl värt att ha i sin samling.

Today is the D-Day, as in the letter D in our ABC Challenge and you will hear this many times in this challenge, but why has this polish been standing soo long!

I bought a bunch from the Darling Diva Muscle Car collection in early May 2014 and Mach 1 has been standing untried until now. Probably because I hate to take off glitter polishes. And I guess that is the reason why there will be more glitters in this challenge.

Mach 1 could very well be worn on it's own and I thinkt it would cover in lets say three coats, but I chose to layer it over Chanel 337 Noir Ceramic instead and I have only one layer of Mach 1. And yet it sparkles like a disco ball.

The polish consists of a black jellybase and lots and lots of prismatic glitter. It spreads out very smoothly on the nail. The drying time is quite ok. In the pictures I have two layers of top coat on. After all this is a glitter polish and they have the ability to eat up the topcoat. 

This is just amazingly beautiful. A wonderful glitter bomb but and is the time that I have to disappoint you .. It has been discontinued so you can no longer buy it. Unless you find it on a blogsale. Too bad, for this is well worth having in the collection.

OPI - Don't Touch My Tutu

Jag har gula fula naglar vilket egentligen inte bekommer mig så värst mycket eftersom jag sällan är utan nagellack. Men ibland kan det vara lite störande som t.ex om man skulle känna för att ha en enkel fransk manikyr.

Nu när jag tittar på bilderna så ser jag att det ser mer gult ut än i verkligheten det ser också mer strimmigt ut än i verkligheten, men jag vill ändå visa den här manikyren för att den är fin i sin enkelhet.

Det jag har gjort är att måla franskt med hjälp av Depend 031, men enbart en kritvit nageltipp ser faktiskt ganska gräsligt ut så för att dölja det hela och mjuka upp manikyren har jag använt mig av mitt favoritlack när det kommer till riktigt skira lack nämligen OPI Don't Touch My Tutu. Ett lack som är gjort för den här typen av manikyrer och alltså inte går att få täckande hur du än försöker.

Tyvärr är det lite svårt att få den här typen av lack jämna, men som sagt det ser mer strimmigt ut på bild än i verkliga livet.

Jag valde att enbart lägga ett lager av Don't Touch My Tutu för att fortfarande få en relativt "icke konstgjort" känsla. Och över det har jag topplack. Som sagt inget mästerverk, men jag gillar det ändå.

 

I have ugly yellow nails, which really does not bother me that much because I rarely have naked nails anyway. But sometimes it can be a little distracting such as if one would feel like having a simple French manicure.

Now when I look at the pictures, I see that it looks more yellow than in reality, it also looks more streaky than in reality, but I still want to show this manicure because it's nice in its simplicity.

What I have done is to paint a French using Depend 031, but only a pure white nail tip actually looks pretty awful so to hide it all and soften the manicure I have used my favorite nail polish when it comes to the really sheer ones namely OPI Don't Touch My Tutu. A polish that is made for this type of manicures and therefore is impossible to get to cover on it's own no matter how hard you try. 

Unfortunately it's a bit difficult to get this type of polish to look real smooth on the nails, but as I said it looks more streaky in the pictures than in real life.

I chose to add just one layer of Don't Touch My Tutu to still get a relatively "non-artificial" feeling. And over that I have a layer of topcoat. That said no masterpiece, but I like it anyway.

Tänka sig att jag har hållt på med det här i fyra år! Det tycker i alla fall jag är värt att fira. Och självklart så blir det enligt min egen tradition en liten giveaway.

Men först lite reflektioner om de här fyra åren. För det har hänt en hel del i nagellacksvärlden tycker jag. När jag började var det inte mycket Indies som visades runt om på bloggarna, nu är det inte mycket mainstream och drugstore märken som visas istället. Visst fanns det en hel del bloggar för fyra år sedan, men sen dess har det exploderat och finns hur många som helst. Och framför allt så har Instragram kommit in som ett starkt komplement till bloggarna. För min egen del vill jag tro att jag blivit bättre både på att måla och fota lack. Men framför allt är jag glad att jag fortfarande tycker det här är kul och att det finns några som faktiskt läser min lilla blogg.

Imagine that I have been doing this for four years! In my mind that is a reason for celebrating. And of course it will be wih my traditional giveaway.

But first some reflections about these four years. For a lot has happened in the nail polish world during these years. When I started there was not much Indies shown on blogs, now it's not very much mainstream and drugstores brands being displayed instead. Sure there were a lot of blogs four years ago, but since then it has exploded and there are a huge number of nailblogs on the web. And we also have gotten Instragram that came in as a strong complement to the blogs. For my own part, I believe that I have improved both at painting and photograph polishes.
