United In Grey - Is it a snowflake?

Då var vi redan på sista dagen av United In Grey och jag vill tacka alla som läst mina inlägg och framför allt skicka ett stort tack till er som också engagerat er och gjort egna inlägg både via bloggar, vår Facebookgrupp och på Instagram.

Jag avslutar med en manikyr som min älskade son tyckte såg ut som snöflingor vilket inte riktigt var mening från början, men efter han sa det så kan jag ju inte heller tycka något annat. Jag har lacket jag visade igår Cactus Astatine som bas. Jag har stämplat med Mentality White Opaque och mönstret kommer från MoYou London Kaleidoscope 03. Fast jag tyckte det såg lite tomt ut på något sätt så det blev en liten gnistrande sten i mitten också.

Idag är det ju även Mors Dag här i Sverige så jag vill rikta en speciell kram till alla mammor därute och kanske särskilt till er mammor som är drabbade av sjukdomen vi har uppmärksammat den här veckan eller har en familjemedlem som är drabbad. För det är ju som jag påpekat innan i veckan det här är ingen sjukdom som bara drabbar den som insjuknat utan hela familjen och vänner runt omkring en.

Man kan ju tycka att ett blogginlägg på en nagelblogg inte gör någon skillnad i kampen mot hjärntumörer, men vet ni jag tror faktiskt att det kan göra det. För om inte annat så kan det kanske få någon att känna att man inte är ensam i sin situation eller sin sorg över att blivit drabbad på ett eller annat sätt och kan jag bidra till att bara en person känner det så är det värt att göra det här. Jag vet att jag själv har känt så när jag hittat blogginlägg eller Facebookgrupper med skapade av personer som gått igenom samma saker som jag gjort vad det än har handlat om. Man hittar en gemenskap och stöd som är så viktigt.

So this is the last day of our United in Grey theme week and I want to thank everyone who has read my posts and above all send a big thank you to those of you who has participated and made posts on blogs, our Facebook group or Instagram.

My last grey manicure for this time is a one that my beloved son thought looked like snowflakes which is not really what I had in mind at first, but after he said it I can't stop thinking the same. I have the polish I showed yesterday Cactus Astatine as the base. I have stamped with Mentality White Opaque and the pattern comes from MoYou London Kaleidoscope 03. Though I thought it looked a bit unfinished for some reason so I pimped it with a little sparkling stone in the middle too.

Today, it's also Mother's Day here in Sweden so I would like to send a special hug to all the mothers out there and perhaps especially to you mothers who are affected by the disease, we have paid attention to this week, or have a family member who is affected. For it is as I pointed out earlier in the week not a disease that only affects those who have got the diagnose but the entire family and friends around you.

One might think that a blog post on a nail blog does not make any difference in the fight against brain tumors, but you know, I actually think it can do that. For if nothing else, it might make someone feel that they are not alone in their situation or their sorrow over that they have been  affected in one way or another and if I can help just one person feel a bit better, it's worth doing this. I know that I have felt that way when I have found a blog post or Facebook Groups that has been created by people who have gone through the same things I have done whatever it has been about. That kind of community and support is so important.

So thanks again everyone!

Reader's Choice & United In Grey - Cactus Astatine

Lördag och vädret är väldigt grått och tråkigt utanför mitt fönster, men vad gör väl det när man har golfspel till Xbox att roa sig med!

Det är ju fortfarande United In Grey som gäller även om jag idag kombinerar detta med läsarnas val.

Så vad tänker jag fundera på idag då? Jo, igår klagade jag lite på vården, något jag faktiskt normalt sett inte gör så idag tänker jag istället ge lite beröm till vårt lands system med högkostnads skydd på mediciner. Visst alla mediciner ingår ju inte i detta, men väldigt många. I vårt avlånga land är det ju som så att du betalar som högst 2200 kronor för mediciner (receptbelagda som ingår i högkostnadsskyddet) per 12 månaders period.

Återigen vad har nu det här med United In Grey och tumörsjukdomar i hjärnan och hypofysen att göra då? Jo, för gemensamt för personer med den här typen av sjukdomar är att det går åt mediciner och i vissa fall väldigt mycket och kanske även under resten av livet. Många är nog dom som aldrig skulle haft råd att lösa ut sina mediciner om inte det här funnits. Jag kan ju bara se till vår familj där det används mediciner som faktiskt är helt livsnödvändiga för ca 150-200.000 varje år. Tänk er själva om ni inte hade något val utan verkligen behövde dom här medikamenten, men kanske till och med hade behövt ta lån för att kunna lösa ut dom. Nä, jag kan säga att jag många gånger under det gångna året varit väldigt tacksam för att jag bor i ett land med det systemet som vi faktiskt har både när det gäller sjukvård och medicinkostnader.

Saturday and the weather is very gray and dull outside my window, but who cares when you have golf game for the Xbox to entertain themselves with!

It's still United In Grey week even if I combine this with the readers' choice today. So what do I want to talk about today?

Well, yesterday I complained a bit of our health care, something I actually don't normally do so today I instead want to give some praise to our country's system of high-cost protection for medicines. Certainly all medications isn't included's but very many. In Sweden you are not supposed to pay more than 2200 SEK (260 USD) a year before you are granted free medicine for the rest of that 12 month period.

Again, what has this to do with the United In Grey theme week and tumor diseases of the brain and the pituitary gland? Well most persons with this type of disease is forced to take medications and in some cases very much medicins and for some this is for the rest of their lifes. I think that there are many that probably could never afford to bail out their medicines unless this existed. I can only look to our family. We need medications for approximately 150 to 200,000 SEK (17700-23500 USD) each year. Just imagine if you had no choice but really needed that medicine to survive and had to take loans to be able to get them. Nah, I can say that I have many times in the past year been very grateful that I live in a country with the system that we actually have in terms of both health care and medical expenses. 

Now to this weeks reader's choice polish. A polish from a Swedish Indie Brand, who unfortunately are not manufactured anymore. The polish is Cactus Astatine a very nice dark gray holo.

It's easy to paint with and covers in two layers. I have my new favorite topcoat HK Girl from Glisten and Glow over in the pictures.

United In Grey - Grey On Grey

Veckan går snabbt mot sitt slut och så även vår temavecka. Det finns massor jag skulle kunna skriva om när det gäller tumörer i hjärnan och hur både den som drabbas och dess anhöriga blir bemötta av sjukvården. Men just idag finns faktiskt inte riktigt orken till att göra detta i alla fall inte utförligt.

Jag kan bara säga så här. Vi upplevde att vi under den mest akuta fasen blev fantastiskt bemötta och har så blivit under det ca 1½ året som gått, men nu som först känner jag mig riktigt besviken. Detta efter att i ungefär 1½ månad försökt få en läkare att ringa tillbaka till oss utan att detta skett.

Hur har ni blivit bemötta i vården?

Dagens manikyr är gjord av ännu ett av mina favoriter av gråa lack nämligen OPI Cement The Deal som kommer från Fifty Shades Of Grey kollektionen. Över detta har jag stämplat ett mönster med gråa band med hjälp av Mentality Grey Opaque och mönster från Born Pretty Store 26

The week is fast reaching its end and so also our theme week. There's lots I could write about when it comes to tumors in the brain and how both the victims and their families are treated by health care. But right now I actually doesn't really have the strength to do this, at least not extensively.

I can only say this. We experienced that during the most acute phase we became treated fantastic and that is the way it has been during the 1½ years that has gone by. Now is actually the first time that I feel really disappointed. This after approximately 1½ months trying to get our doctor to call back to us without this has happened.

How have you been treated from the health care?

Today's manicure is made of another one of my favorites when it comes to gray polishes namely OPI Cement The Deal that is a part of the Fifty Shades of Grey collection. Over this I have stamped a pattern in another shade of grey using Mentality Grey Opaque and the pattern of small ribbons comes from Born Pretty Store plate 26.

United In Grey - Grey Ribbon

Hörrni den här veckan går ju i det grå bandets tecken och därför googlade jag lite på just Hjärntumörer. Jag vet att jag förra året fick fram fakta på att det var en av de vanligaste cancerformerna hos barn, men alla som får en tumör i hjärnan eller i hypofysen som också räknas in här har ju faktiskt inte cancer. Cancer är det ju först om tumören är elakartad.

På Cancerfondens sida hittade jag följande information: Tumörer i hjärnan drabbar alla åldrar, men är vanligast hos personer över 60 år. Ungefär hälften av de ca 1100 som varje år i Sverige drabbas är faktiskt över 60. Utöver de 1100 får ca 100 till cancer i någon del av nervsystemet och ca 100 personer tumörer i hypofysen. Sammanlagt betyder det att cancer i hjärnan är den elfte vanligaste cancerformen i Sverige.

De vanligaste symptomen på en tumör någonstans i hjärnan eller hypofysen för den delen är: Huvudvärk, Illamående och kräkningar, Epileptiska anfall, tal- hörsel- synproblem, balansproblem, försämrad rörelse och känselförmåga och psykiska besvär. Många av dom här besvären kan ju bero på många andra saker också så helt enkelt är det nog inte för våra läkare att konstatera just den här sjukdomen.

Just tumörer i hjärnan är en av dom saker som forskarna fortfarande vet ganska lite om varför dom uppkommer, men intensiv forskning pågår om detta. Vill man hjälpa till att bidra till forskningen kan man skänka bidrag till Cancerfonden eller Hjärnfonden.

Nu till dagens gråa manikyr. Jag tog fram ett av mina favoriter bland gråa lack nämligen Powder Perfect The Clave, gjorde en accentnagel med hjälp av Milani White On The Spot och använde mig också av Nail Vinyls Vinyls For A Cause stencil för att göra ett fint litet grått band.

This week is about the Grey Ribbon and therefore I searched on Google a bit about brain tumors. I know that when we did this week last year I found out that in Sweden Cancer in the brain is one of the most common cancers that children is affected by. But everyone that gets a tumor in the brain or pituitary gland, which also is included here actually doesn't have cancer. It's cancer first if the tumor is malignant.

At the Swedish Cancerfondens homepage I found the following information. And this is numbers that affect Sweden. Tumors in the brain affects all ages, but is most common in people over 60 years. About half of the approximately 1100 in Sweden that each year gets this diagnosis are actually over 60. In addition to the 1100 about 100 more gets cancer in any part of the nervous system and approximately 100 persons tumors in the pituitary gland. Altogether it means that brain cancer is the eleventh most common cancer in Sweden.

The most common symptoms of a tumor anywhere in the brain or pituitary gland, for that matter are: headache, nausea and vomiting, seizures, speech- auditory- or vision problems, balance problems, impaired movement and tactility and psychological disorders. Many of  these symptoms may of course depend on many other things as well so it's probably not easy for our physicians to conclude this particular disease.

Tumors in the brain is one of the things that scientists still know very little about the reasons why they occur, but intense research is going on about this. 

Now to today's gray manicure. I took out one of my favorite gray polishes namely Powder Perfect The Clave, made an accent nail using Milani White On The Spot and also used  Nail Vinyls Vinyls for a Cause stencil to make a nice little gray ribbon.

United In Grey - Red and Grey!

Denna veckan handlar om det Gråa Bandet en vecka för att få oss lite mer uppmärksammade på tumörsjukdomar i hjärnan.

Idag väljer jag att skriva om något som gör stor skillnad för många sjuka barn runtom på våra svenska sjukhus. Det finns liknande organisationer i många andra länder också.

Jag tänker på Min Stora Dag. Alla kanske inte känner till vad den organisationen sysslar med, men jag misstänker att en del av er hört talas om barn som fått sin allra högsta önskan uppfylld av just Min Stora Dag. Det handlar alltså om en organisation där personal på sjukhusen får nominera barn som dom känner skulle behöva något extra för att orka. Har sen det här barnet tur så blir det utvalt att få skicka in några olika önskemål på saker som dom drömmer om att få göra. Det kan vara att få träffa en kändis eller åka och titta på något speciellt. Jag läste t.ex på deras Facebook sida att ett barn fanns på plats i Wien och såg Måns Zelmerlöv vinna Eurovision och allt detta genom att det fått önska sig detta via Min Stora Dag.

Men tänker ni, en organisation som bara plockar ut enstaka barn är väl inte så bra, men så är det verkligen inte för Min Stora Dag gör massa andra saker också. Saker som betyder så mycket när man är sjuk. Det delas ut biobiljetter, det ordnas grupparrangemang runt om i vårt avlånga land. Så det är många barn och föräldrar som får en stund av glädje mitt allt det jobbiga med hjälp av dom. Vill ni läsa mer så hittar ni deras hemsida här och Facebook sida här.

Som ni ser så finns det ljuspunkter även för barn som måste vistas mycket på sjukhus.

Men nu till dagens manikyr. Den blev inte helt klockren och det berodde mest på att jag valde att använda mig av ett mönster från min nya MoYou London Doodles 01. Alla mönstren på den plattan är runda och det var lite knepigt att få det att få plats på naglarna. Jag får testa när jag har kortare naglar nästa gång. Hur går då den här röda manikyren ihop med United In Grey? Jo, basen är Barry M Raspberry, men mönstret är stämplat med Mentality Grey Opaque alltså blir det en manikyr med grått!

This week is all about the Gray Ribbon a week to give attention on tumor diseases of the brain.

Today I choose to write about something that makes a big difference for many sick children around our Swedish hospitals. There are similar organizations in many other countries too. Such as: Dream Come True, Wish Upon A Star, Dreamfactory and Share A Dream. But in Sweden this is called Min Stora Dag whish means My Big Day in English.

Not all of you may know what the organization is doing, but I suspect that some of you have heard of children who have gotten their biggest dream fulfilled by one of these organisations. In Sweden it's the staff at the hospitals that gets to nominate children that they feel would benefit of getting something really special. If that child is lucky it will be selected to it's own Min Stora Dag. The child get to send in a couple of different suggestions of things it is dreaming of doing. It may be to meet a celebrity or go and look at something special or somewhere special. I read for example on their Facebook page that a child got to go to Vienna and see the Eurovision Song Contest final. And watch our Swedish Måns Zelmerlöv win the whole thing and all this because Min Stora Dag made it happen.

But, you might think that an organization that just picks out individual children doesn't sound so good, but that is not exactly the case at least not when it comes to Min Stora Dag because they are doing lots of other things too. Things that mean so much when you are sick. Lots of children gets movie tickets, they also organized group events across our country. So there are many children and parents that gets a moment of joy in a time of sickness and sadness. If you want to learn more you can find their website here and Facebook page here.

As you can see, there are bright moments even for children who has to spend lots and lots of times in hospitals.

But now to today's manicure. It was not quite satisfied with this mainly because I chose to use a pattern from my new MoYou London Doodles 01 plate. All the patterns on the plate is round and it was tricky to get it to fit on the nails. I'll try when I have shorter nails next time. And how is this manicure suitable for United In Grey? Well, the base is Barry M Raspberry, but the pattern is stamped with Mentality Grey Opaque thus becomes a manicure with gray!
