Jaha, just det lacket då.
Well, it's Friday again and yet another week that I don't participate in our holofriday. Because this week we all are United In Pink. Someone asked what the purpose of this theme is. It is actually entirely up to each one, but the basic idea is to get everyone to think of what you can contribute with and how important it is to know your own breast and keep doing self examinations.
I think many of us women are living with a fear that one day they will discover a change in their breasts , and it's probably not many of us who do not have any kind of relationship to the disease. Personally, I have two good friends whose mothers died of breast cancer. I have former colleagues who suffered from it, but recovered. For the fact is that the more research conducted , the better are the chances for those who gets this diagnose.
Then we must never forget that each affected woman has a family, friends and acquaintances that although they are not those who carry the disease they are equally affected and exposed as well. To be the one standing on the sidelines and see someone you love suffer is cruel and very exhausting. Believe me I know.
For me personaly, this is not a week dedicaded to raise money for research , although I will do that too , by auctioning off polishes and donate that money to the Pink Ribbon campaign here in Sweden but first and foremost to get us women all over the world to think . To stress the importance of self-examination , but perhaps even more on the importance to be precense and to be there for your friend who are sick and to that persons family.
All that is really needed is to show that you care and are there for them, not always physically. Sometimes even a small email, SMS or phone call is what it takes. All of which make these people understand that they have support from others. You know, one smile at a stranger on the town can also brighten a dark day .
So show that you care . Be there for those who have a hard time and now I am not only taking about breastcancer patients, but to all kinds of serious illnesses and other situations that you go through on the journey that life is.
A smile costs nothing , nor a hug.
Enough talking on to the polish! One of the few pink polishes that I get along very well with. It comes from one of my favorite brands, Zoya and the name is Rory . A pink polish with silver shimmer in. A dream to apply and dries quickly . Two coats and some dots made of Zoya Purity. And a coat of Poshe over.
