Holofredag - China Glaze When Stars Collide

I'm so stupid sometimes! When the Hologlam collection came out last year I was just tired of the hype and thought they looked pretty boring. This meant that I was late to get any at all. Now I have a bunch in my stash and this is number two to be tested by me.

And even this time,  I am completely sold. China Glaze When Stars Collide is simply wonderful! No, it's not a super holo effect in it, but what a beautiful dusty purple with a little but oh-so- pleasant effect. This may even be the polish that makes me get back my original love for purple polish that has faded a bit lately.

Many people have had problems applying these polishes and it can be tricky if you do not take properly with paint on the brush at the first layer. Make the first layer pretty thick and the problems are gone. I only needed two coats for full coverage. I 've put on a coat of Seche too.

I experienced that the holo got a bit dull after wearing this a couple of days, but the sustainability was very good and I was almost a little sad when it was time to remove it because it started chipping a little on my worst keyboard fingers.

* the polish you use should be at least one year old
* if you haven't been a polishaholic that long, you can use the oldest polishes you have
* the polish should be previously used, but if you're stuck, you could free a yearling from Mount Untried (seriously, some of mine are reaching puberty out there)
* you can use more than 1 polish as long as it fits the theme and the rules

Just after the New Years I was surfing around amongst nail bloggers and ended up at The Crumpet. That's where I saw this challenge that I felt suited me just fine. Partly because there is only one day a week that is included in the theme and for the great rules sake:

* the polish you use should be at least one year old
* if you haven't been a polishaholic that long, you can use the oldest polishes you have
* the polish should be previously used, but if you're stuck, you could free a yearling from Mount Untried (seriously, some of mine are reaching puberty out there)
* you can use more than 1 polish as long as it fits the theme and the rules

Could it get better? In this way, I have to pick up those forgotten beauties from the box and use them.

The first week the theme is pink. As you all know, is not the color that is most represented in my collection, but I do have some bottles anyway. What I'm about to show you is one of the first polishes I bought when I really started getting crazy about polish. It comes from the Swedish brand Kicks and is called Flamingo Pink. A bottle that is actually used several times.

The very first time I showed this was February 20th in 2012 during my very first blog month and therefore I think it is fun to pick up this again and show you. The polish is easy to paint with. One needs three coats for full coverage. The drying time is very good. I have Seche over it in the images. I might be wrong but I do think that this was released in 2011.

I have to say that if I have to wear pink this is the type of shade I choose. A bright one and this also has blue / purple tones in it. Well, I think it's really neat, but I still don't feel like me when I wear it.

Grön Onsdag - OPI Live And Let Die

Lacket är OPI Live And Let Die.

Today I thought I would join Karin's green Wednesday. With a polish that is very dark, but it is green!

The polish is OPI Live And Let Die. I think I bought this polish early last year or no, maybe it was even so that I bought it when the collection was released Fall / Christmas 2012 so it's about time I show it here.

It is a dark green coat with absolutely stunningly beautiful gold shimmer in. I hope you have better computer monitor than the one I'm at now, this looks completely black out at some pictures and I can guarantee that it is not.

I thought it was a good formula to this. It covers in two coats. In the pictures, I have no Seche.

I think this is very nice and I showed earlier how beautiful it works together with goldglitter for gradients. Yes, I absolutely believe that it will be used again.

Northern Star - Macabre Delight

Sent out for review

So the Christmas Holidays are over for this time. I'm not sure I like the fact that I have to work full weeks starting next week. But at least I have a lot of nice polishes to look forward too and that is never wrong.

Today I will show you a polish that has great potential to be a really beautiful color, but unfortunately, I was a little disappointed.

Northern Star Macabre Delight is a blue jelly polish or actually a bit blurple, with glitter in various purple and green hues. Also different sizes and shapes on them.

By now you probably know what I think about jellys so I decided to put this on one of my favorite polishes namely China Glaze Man Hunt. And this is where the problems started. The jelly is easy to apply, but the glitters did not really want to follow the brush up from the bottle. That is very sad for it is a very nice combination of colors I think.

I often like manicures with sparse glitter, but this perhaps was a little too sparse even for my taste. Imagine the super combo it have been if the glitter was a little more cooperative! What you se in the pictures are two layers of Macabre Delight over Man Hunt and a layer of Seche.

It's not that I don't like this at all, but I probably would have expected a little more than this.

What do you think? Nice as it is or too little glitter?

Northern Star polishes can be bought from Edgy Polish and it is from there that I got this. Don't miss the super sale going on there right now.

China Glaze - Cranberry Splash

Isn't it  appropriate to show a red polish on one of the last days of Christmas. Or what do you say? The fact that it comes from a Christmas collection must surely be perfect as well.

China Glaze Cranberry Splash is from the 2012 Christmas collection. A very beautiful red metallic polish. Which also shows up China Glaze on their best side.

This was easy to apply, covers in two coats and dries without problems. Could it be better? No, not really. In the pictures, I have no topcoat.

One of my wishes this year is that China Glaze will release a superb collection. I must say I was not very impressed with last year's or the one I've seen so far of this year. So keep your fingers crossed for a new collection in the same class as Hunger Games or Summer Neons who came 2 years ago.
